Spark Imagination with Interaction

Bringing the Exhibits to Life!

Augmented reality @ Natural History Museum London

At the Natural History Museum in London, Interactive Imagination's team have taken some serious steps to integrate technology into their exhibits. One of the most notable additions is the Attenborough Studio.

The Attenborough Studio is a state-of-the-art communication centre where innovation technology, Museum specimens, live animals, spectacular natural history film footage and Museum scientists come together to create an inspiring programme of free daily films and live events for the general public.

The studio allows the general public to quite literally ‘engage’ with scientists. Created with bespoke high-resolution content, interactive touch-screens enable the realisation of ‘augmented reality!’

The use of augmented reality allows attendees to see Dinosaurs, apes and various other organisms move around the room whilst supplying key information and other interaction point. Tilting the handset from side to side can effectively see all around the animal, resulting in a quite extraordinary and unique experience.

Be a Justice @ the Supreme Court

The most recent, exciting and engaging exhibit that Interactive Imagination has opened at the Supreme Court in London, puts the user into the shoes of a Justice of the Supreme Court. Featuring two HD touch screens, attractive and accessible graphics and easy to use controls, this exhibit is very popular and fun to use while providing educational value.

Users can select from a range of case studies that are part of a carousel that is constantly moving. They can accelerate the carousel selection or change its direction by swiping left or right. Users are also invited to use the left and right buttons if they prefer.

Once a case is selected, the user follows the journey of the case from the overview to issues being discussed and what laws are involved with each case. Eventually the user will make their own decision as though they were a fellow justice of the court, and they will find out how their decision matches up with the other justice’s.

“These are just a few ways museums are looking to integrate technology and give life to their exhibits.  More and more museums and retail establishments are seeking better ways for visitors to engage in new and more pervasive ways, exploiting more sophisticated technologies including exhibits that allow visitors to use their own smartphones and other mobile devices.” Interactive Imagine Team
